Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons gochujang Korean red chili paste
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey or rice syrup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped green onion
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
  • Optional: Since I love it spicier I Add 1 teaspoon of Korean chili flakes (gochugaru)

Instructions

  • First, gather all your ingredients. Mince the garlic finely and chop the green onions into small pieces for a smoother texture. Freshly prepared ingredients ensure the best flavor.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the gochujang, soy sauce, honey, and brown sugar. Mix thoroughly with a spoon or whisk until the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth and glossy. This forms the base of your sauce.
  • Next, add the minced garlic and sesame oil to the bowl. These ingredients enhance the depth and aroma of the sauce, making it even more flavorful.
  • Pour in the rice vinegar to balance the sweetness and spiciness. If you prefer a spicier kick, add some Korean chili flakes (gochugaru) to the mix.
  • Finally, fold in the finely chopped green onions and sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds on top. These final touches add freshness and texture to your Yangnyeom sauce.
  • Taste the sauce to ensure the flavors are balanced. If you want it sweeter, add a bit more honey. For more tanginess, include an extra splash of vinegar. To make it spicier, stir in additional gochujang. Adjust to your preference, and your Yangnyeom sauce is ready to serve. Enjoy this versatile condiment with your favorite dishes!

NOTES

  • - Start with a small amount of gochujang if you prefer a milder sauce, and gradually add more to reach your desired spice level.
  • - Enhance the flavor with fresh garlic and green onions.
  • - Remember to taste the sauce as you go, so you can adjust the seasoning to your preference.
